Twice a year the Mark Hewitt Pottery opens a kiln load of over 1500 handmade pots and invites everyone to the pottery for an Open Studio event called a "Kiln Opening!”
It’s a great chance to enjoy a day in the country, see Mark's pottery workshop, the massive wood kilns, their barn/showroom, and shop for beautiful, fine handcrafted pottery for yourself or for a gift. The shelves in the open air barn/showroom are stocked with a delightful selection of lovely tumblers, cozy mugs, dinner plates and cereal bowls, elegant vases, pitchers, lidded jars, small and large serving bowls, platters, planters and more ~ made by master potter, Mark Hewitt, and intern Dalton Hughes.
This is the 107th Firing of Mark's huge wood-burning kiln, and all the pots are stamped '107’. The signature Big Pots Mark made for Firing 107 ~ life-size vases, jars and sentinels ~ will also be on display.
Directions, more about Kiln Openings, mailing list sign up, as well as an online store, are all on their website.
Can't make it in June?
