Chatham Animal Rescue and Education
The mission of Chatham Animal Rescue and Education (CARE) is to promote the health and safety of all cats and dogs in Chatham County. CARE strives to teach by example, to be a resource to the community and local government, and to provide foster care for animals until they can be adopted into permanent homes.
Chatham Animal Rescue and Education was originally incorporated as Chatham Humane Society (CHS), in 1975. CARE is a 501(c)(3) organization.
Companion Camp
Companion Camp is an all-inclusive campground dedicated to providing quality pet care lodging services. Companion Camp offers safe, affordable, and reliable care for pets year round in a beautiful, natural setting near the Research Triangle, Pittsboro, and Burlington areas in North Carolina. Voted "Best Local Place to Board Your Pet" in the 2009 Best of Chatham County.
Imagine your pets going to an all-inclusive (lodging, meals, hikes, romps, wake-up calls, bedtime tuck-ins) summer camp while you are away. Dogs enjoy exploring nature as they hike through ten acres of woods, romp in a play yard, and relax in duplex cabins with private rooms and patios. Cats enjoy lodging in individual condos with private litter box rooms, basking in sunny windows, and playing in our cattery.
Piedmont Farm Animal Refuge
Piedmont Farm Animal Refuge (the Refuge) is a non-profit organization that works to rescue farm animals in need, educate people about the cruelties of factory farms, and promote veganism by offering knowledge, support, and community to people interested in living cruelty-free lifestyles. Founded in 2012, the Refuge is located in North Carolina just 15 minutes away from the downtowns of Carrboro, Saxapahaw, and Pittsboro and 20 minutes away from downtown Chapel Hill.
The Refuge is currently home to over 100 rescued farm animals coming from abuse, neglect, and abandonment. Weekly public tours and a large variety of volunteering options are available. The Refuge also runs many education programs and a summer camp for kids called Camp Compassion.
