Boys and Girls Club of Central Carolina at Wren Family Center
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Carolina is a unique organization consisting of 3 Club facilities, our O.T. Sloan site and Church Street site located in Lee County and our Wren Family Center located in Chatham County. Our goal is to provide every child with the essential tools needed for a successful and bright future. Since 1995, the vision of Boys & Girls Clubs has grown and changed with the needs of our children. As the needs of our children and their families continue to change, so will the dynamics of our programs and services.
Every day, we strive to improve each child’s life by implementing self-esteem, courage, and positive values through all of our programs. Our youth who come to the Club receive tutoring, computer training, sports education, homework help, mentoring, and much more. Our youth gain confidence by developing a sense of usefulness and belonging. If you are looking for an exciting place for children to learn and grow or would like to volunteer or become a child’s mentor, you have come to the right place. The membership consists of men and women who are dedicated to serving their local communities as well as the world. There are than 8,000 clubs with nearly 300,000 members in 89 nations and geographic areas. The Kiwanis motto is "Serving the Children of the World." Our volunteers are dedicated to improving the world, one child and one community at a time.
The Pittsboro Kiwanis Club has various service projects including sponsoring a Key Club at Northwood High School, supporting various groups such as Boy Scouts, FFA, DECA, the Snack Program, and Cora, to mention a few. Our major fundraiser is the Country Ham Biscuit Booth at the NC State Fair. It is through the efforts of many volunteers who assist during the 10 days of the fair that the club raises money to fund scholarships to local students. The major international project is the Eliminate Program which is working to eliminate neonatal and maternal tetanus worldwide. Sixteen countries have thus far been declared free of this disease, similar to the eradication of iodine deficiency worldwide due to the efforts of Kiwanis members.
The Pittsboro Club meets at 7 p.m. on Thursday nights except for the first Thursday of the month when the meeting convenes at 12 noon. Come join us!
