Rebounding Waters and Pollution of the Haw River with Anne Cassebaum

North Carolina’s Haw River has a rich geographic, ecological, and cultural history and has been key to the region’s growth and development over the centuries. Now with Gen X and 1,4-Dioxane affecting water sources, what efforts are being made to preserve one of the region’s vital waterways? Author Anne Cassebaum will discuss the history, importance, and hope for the 110-mile Haw River.

Anne taught English at Elon University for 25 years, led students on trips to the Everglades, Alaska, and the Haw exploring the natural world and literature. She is a flat water paddler who loved every minute of researching Down Along the Haw: The History of a North Carolina River and is a board member of the Haw River Assembly.
